Rail: Extension of Vorteilscard/Austria Card

Unfortunately, it happens time and again that no notice of termination is given, for example because the passenger does not receive the letter of extension or the letter of termination does not reach the company. From the rail company's point of view, the contract is automatically extended by one year. The apf was able to mediate positively in all arbitration procedure on this issue. When switching to a more expensive product, the apf takes the legal view that automatic renewal is generally not permitted. This means that for new products with a higher price, the passengers' consent must be obtained again.

Recommendations from apf to passengers:[nbsp]

• If you buy a discount card online, you can cancel the purchase within 14 days. The right of withdrawal does not apply if you buy the Vorteilscard at the ticket office.
• The Vorteilscard cannot be terminated during the contract period, even if, for example, there have been changes to the rail company's general terms and conditions. In the event of premature termination, you are therefore dependent on the company's goodwill.
• With the Österreichcard, there is an "extraordinary right of termination for certain reasons" and an ordinary right of termination from the 7th month of the contract.
