Take the train to your winter vacation
from Jürgen Vogl
If a train is heavily booked and therefore no space can be made available for stowing your skis or snowboard, the train crew may decide that you have to travel on one of the next trains. To avoid such inconveniences, the apf:
- The modalities for taking bulky items of luggage, such as skis and snowboards, should be clarified with the respective train company before the journey.
- Always make a seat reservation. People with a seat reservation will be taken on board if the train is overcrowded. However, it is not possible to make a reservation for luggage, skis and snowboards. However, it is unlikely that luggage will have to be left behind if the person is traveling on the train.
- Especially if you are taking large or bulky items of luggage that cannot be placed between the seats, make a seat reservation near a storage rack so that you can keep an eye on your luggage.
In addition to the option of taking your luggage or winter sports equipment with you on the day of your journey, ÖBB-Personenverkehr , for example, also offers a door-to-door delivery service for its passengers. This service is subject to a charge and can only be booked at an ÖBB ticket counter or by calling ÖBB customer service on 05 17 17.
