Flight: Amount and calculation of compensation for flight irregularities

The amount of compensation due is regulated in Article 7 of the EU Air Passenger Rights Regulation (Regulation (EC) No. 261/2004) and depends on the flight distance:
- EUR 250 for a flight distance of 1,500 km or less
(example: Vienna (VIE) - Berlin (TXL) = 547 km) - EUR 400 for all longer intra-Community flights and
other flights with a flight distance of more than 1,500 km to 3,500 km
(example: Vienna (VIE) - Lisbon (LIS) = 2,310 km) - EUR 600 for all other flights
(example: Vienna (VIE) - New York (JFK) = 6,823 km)
The distances themselves are determined using the great circle distance method.
