Online tickets: times have changed
Buying services on the World Wide Web is booming. This is understandable, as it makes it possible to compare prices quickly and clearly. There has also been a significant increase in the purchase of online tickets in rail transport. Austria's largest railroad company, ÖBB-Personenverkehr, has already made it possible to buy tickets online for several years. The following must be taken into account when booking tickets: After purchasing the ticket online, you do not receive the ticket immediately, but an order confirmation by e-mail. A link in this e-mail then takes you to the ÖBB website and only there can the ticket finally be "purchased". ÖBB uses the term "obtain" to mean that the ticket is printed out or collected from a ticket counter or ticket machine. Once a ticket has been purchased, it can no longer be changed or canceled.
The apf therefore recommends that you always purchase your online ticket as late as possible in order to preserve your right to a refund for as long as possible. Purchasing the ticket on the day of travel itself or shortly before would be ideal.
