Flight: If the mobility aid is damaged or lost during a flight

from Armin Trojer

Article 12 of the PRM Passenger Rights Regulation (Regulation (EC) 1107/2006) stipulates that passengers must be compensated accordingly for lost or damaged wheelchairs and other mobility aids and assistive devices.

A passenger whose wheelchair was severely damaged in the baggage hold and could no longer be used contacted apf after the airline failed to respond to his complaint. Provisional repairs were carried out at the airport, but the final repair cost 4,079 euros.

Following intervention by apf, the airline immediately handed the case over to its insurance company, which proposed a lump-sum settlement of 4,100 euros. The traveler accepted the amount.
