Train: Train journey with wheelchair
from Jürgen Vogl
According to the BF, the conductor argued that the train had to depart on time and that boarding would cause delays. In the end, the train departed without the group of five passengers, the train-bound tickets expired and the passengers were forced to buy new tickets for the next train.
As the BF was unable to reach an agreement with the rail company regarding the reimbursement of the unused train tickets totaling 750 euros, he turned to the apf. After apf contacted the rail company, two different statements were received from the BF and the company.
The railroad company stated that there was no reason to refuse transportation to passengers in wheelchairs. Assistance with boarding the train with a wheelchair can be provided quickly and easily using a ramp.
As the newly purchased tickets were also issued for the return journey from Wels to Bonn (and not from Vienna to Bonn as required), the apf suspected that there had been communication difficulties due to the language. In the end, the apf was able to mediate positively between the BF and the railroad company. The BF and the railroad company accepted the solution proposed by the apf. The railroad company transferred 200 euros to the BF's account and the BF received 200 euros in the form of vouchers.
