HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO KEEP MY TICKET?

The ticket must be kept until you leave the platform at the last destination station. Checks are not only permitted on the train, but also on the platform.

⇒ The apf recommends keeping the tickets for complaints (e.g. refunds) or appeals against penalties in any case until the matter has been positively resolved.

§ The legal basis is § 13 Para. 3 EisbBFG.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO ACCOMPANIZE SOMEONE WITHOUT A TICKET TO THE TRAIN?

Yes.

⇒ The apf recommends that if control personnel are present, they should be informed of the passenger's escort function before entering the platform if possible. The burden of proof that the platform was not only entered but also used by the train lies with the company.

§ The legal basis is § 13 Para. 3 and §14 EisbBFG.

DO I HAVE TO SHOW MY TICKET TO THE ACCESSOR AND PROVIDE ID?

Yes.
The ticket must be shown and handed over on request. The passenger must also show an ID card to establish his or her identity if no valid ticket can be presented.

§ The legal basis is § 13 Para. 3 EisbBFG.

MUST THETRAIN ATTENDANT PROVIDE ID?

Yes.
The train attendant is obliged to provide identification upon request. This can be done by means of an ID card or by providing a service number.

§ The legal basis is § 13 Para. 4 EisbBFG.

MY TICKET WAS WITHHELD DURING A CHECK. IS THIS PERMITTED?

Yes.
The train conductor may withhold a ticket if, for example, there is a suspicion of an invalid ticket. However, the retention must be confirmed so that the passenger can provide evidence in the event of a demand for payment of a penalty (additional fare) or legal proceedings.

⇒ The apf recommends obtaining confirmation that the ticket has been retained.

§ The legal basis is § 13 Para. 5 EisbBFG.
