Rail: refund of ticket price

from Jürgen Vogl

The passenger wanted to buy a ticket for the return journey from Lower Austria to Vienna, paid with an ATM card and overlooked the fact that the price of 30 euros was far too high. She had paid for three tickets instead of one, as the entry from a previous booking was presumably still saved. In order to be reimbursed for the two unused tickets, she wrote an email to the rail company, which refused to reimburse her as the tickets had not been claimed immediately. The passenger therefore submitted a complaint to the apf using the complaint form, which obtained a refund of the two tickets in the form of vouchers.

Tips from the apf:[nbsp]

  • With ticket machines, always check the amount of the stated purchase price before completing the transaction in order to exclude the stored data from another booking.
  • Contact an employee of the company as soon as possible after a bad purchase and ask about the next steps.
  • If you buy the wrong ticket from a ticket machine, go to a ticket counter within 20 minutes and ÖBB-Personenverkehr will refund the ticket price immediately.
