apf advocates for travelers with disabilities in rail, bus, ship and air transport

from Armin Trojer

The experts at apf[nbsp]also recommend this so that companies can plan. However, even if no notification has been made, companies are obliged to provide the best possible assistance. In the event of a dispute with the company or if the company fails to meet its obligation, the apf ensures that solutions and compensation are found quickly.

As in previous years, the number of complaints submitted to apf by passengers with disabilities was very low in 2018. In air travel, proceedings were conducted regarding a lack of PRM service and the resulting missed connecting flight and due to a failed PRM service. In rail transport, the apf mediated cases in which there was no assistance for a mother with a baby carriage, as well as train changes without information and cancellation of the reservation. In addition, the apf regularly checks railroad companies and the largest Austrian infrastructure operator to see whether they are fulfilling their obligations to passengers with disabilities regarding registration, confirmation and the extent of assistance.
